The Content Strategy That Got Our Clients 45K Views on TikTok (Without Dancing)

You don't need to dance, lip-sync, or go viral to build a successful TikTok presence for your small business. Here's the exact framework we use for service businesses in Canada.

Brittany Lowe

Founder & Marketing Strategist

When I tell small business owners in Ontario that TikTok is their best marketing opportunity right now, I get one of two reactions: excitement or eye-rolls. The eye-rollers always say the same thing: "I'm not going to dance on camera for my business."

Good news: you don't have to.

Why TikTok Works for Service Businesses

TikTok's algorithm doesn't care how many followers you have. It cares about watch time, completion rate, and engagement. That means a brand new account with zero followers can reach thousands of potential customers in their first week — if the content is good.

For service businesses (bookkeepers, cleaners, contractors, coaches, consultants), "good content" means useful content. Content that answers questions your ideal customer is already asking.

The Framework: Problem → Solution → CTA

Every piece of content we create for our clients follows this simple structure:

  1. Hook (first 2 seconds): State the problem your viewer has. "If you're a small business owner in Ontario and you're doing your own bookkeeping..."
  2. Problem (5–10 seconds): Agitate the problem. Make them feel seen.
  3. Solution (15–30 seconds): Give them a genuinely useful tip or insight.
  4. CTA (last 3 seconds): Tell them what to do next. Follow, comment, book a call.

What Types of Videos Work Best

  • "Did you know" facts about your industry that surprise people
  • Myth-busting content that challenges common misconceptions
  • Day in the life content that humanizes your business
  • Before and after results (works especially well for visual services)
  • Answering FAQs directly to camera

Posting Frequency and Timing

For Canadian small businesses, we recommend 3–5 posts per week. The best times to post for an Ontario audience are 7–9am, 12–1pm, and 7–9pm EST. Consistency matters more than perfection — a slightly imperfect video posted consistently beats a polished video posted once a month.
